Job Summary
Design and develop mechanical systems, tooling, and automation equipment using CATIA, creating 3D models, detailed manufacturing drawings, and engineering documentation. Perform engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, and design validation to support prototype builds, testing, and equipment validation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including controls, electrical, and project engineering, while working with suppliers to ensure designs meet project requirements. Review drawings, BOMs, and specifications for accuracy, track engineering changes, and support equipment installation and launch activities. This hands-on role supports the design and development of automation equipment and BIW tooling for a major automotive manufacturing program.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
- Approximately 10 years of mechanical design experience
- Advanced proficiency with CATIA and 3DEXPERIENCE CATIA
- Strong experience designing BIW tooling
- Understanding of GD&T, manufacturing processes, and machine design
- Experience designing automation equipment, tooling, or general assembly systems
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Desired Qualifications
- Automotive manufacturing experience
- Experience supporting Honda or other OEM design standards
- Knowledge of automated assembly systems and industrial manufacturing
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
