Job Summary

Mechanical Design Engineer responsible for designing, validating, and implementing innovative and cost-effective tooling, jigs, and fixtures using standard processes (e.g., CNC milling/turning, Additive Manufacturing). Leads end-to-end strain testing activities, oversees test setup and data interpretation to characterize material behavior, creates and releases detailed drawings, and interfaces with machine shops for quotes and completion. Manages sourcing and deliveries from suppliers for fabrication of tools and equipment. Collaborates with the development team to support tooling design initiatives, drives production and technology roadmaps to meet customer expectations, and develops improvements to enhance manufacturability and reduce costs. Provides technical support to manufacturing to improve manufacturability and assembly, performs tolerance analysis to optimize component fit, and manages projects on key customer accounts. Applies advanced analytical techniques (e.g., FEA correlation) to predict material behavior under complex loading and develops/testing methods to characterize material performance (tensile, compression, cyclic loading). Requires 3D CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred); strong communication and leadership skills; and the ability to work in teams across cross-functional groups.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 4 years of experience designing tooling and creating drawings in SolidWorks
  • At least 6 years of experience in stress–strain analysis and material characterization
