Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Summary
Design and support cast metal components from concept through production by creating engineering drawings and 3D models, reviewing customer specifications, and designing tooling and patterns. Analyze specifications and sketches to generate product models that satisfy requirements, while reviewing mechanical designs for manufacturability and cost considerations. Select materials, define fit, form, and function, and perform FEA calculations to ensure quality standards are met. Collaborate with production, quality, and sales teams to resolve technical issues, improve casting performance, and support new product development. Manage parts databases and generate bills of material for assembly drawings.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of technical experience in Mechanical Design work
- Must have strong Solid Modeling and CAD skills
- Must have strong SolidWorks skills
- Experience with Product Data Management software
- Ability to effectively collaborate as part of a cross-functional team
- Effective planning, organizational, and prioritization skills
- Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
- Being a self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as a team member with minimal direction
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of manufacturing environment (foundry, injection molding, metals, fabrication, welding, and machining processes)
