Job Summary
Assemble complex mechanical assemblies for firearm simulator training kits, handling small components down to 0-80 screws and using a microscope for extended periods. Operate mechanical hand tools and basic machine tools including drills, Dremel tools, and grinding wheels to perform focused quality assembly, test, and troubleshooting in a low to medium volume production environment. Read multilevel bills of material to pull parts, manage time logs by project code, and maintain ISO 9001 compliance while performing daily shop cleanup. Follow safety protocols when working with firearms and provide miscellaneous support to other departments as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Good Dexterity and hand/eye coordination
- Must be able to work using a microscope for extended periods
- Proficiency with mechanical hand tools (wrenches, screw drives, pliers, etc.) and basic machine tools (drills, Dremel tools, grinding wheels, drill press, band saw, etc.)
- Aptitude for focused quality assembly/test/troubleshoot/repair of small electrical and mechanical systems/parts in a repeating production environment
- Ability to assemble mechanical products with the use of assembly drawings and procedures with limited supervision
- Must be able to follow work instructions and perform repeating tasks in a low to medium volume manufacturing environment
- Must have a desire to learn
- Must be comfortable working with firearms and follow safety protocols
- High school or technical school graduate
- 5 years previous experience in electrical assembly
- Full time position consisting of 40+ hours per week
- normal hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 6:00am to 2:30pm
- This position may require long hours and weekend work due to production, rework or customer deadlines
- Pre-employment drug test and background test
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in a high reliability manufacturing environment
- Able to read a complex multilevel bill of material and pull parts required for production builds
- Basic principles of stock management and part procurement
- Small part assembly experience
- IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 certification
- ESD certification
