Job Summary
Assemble component parts for rail communications equipment using assembly prints and bills of materials, selecting transistors, resistors, relays, capacitors, and integrated circuits to populate PCBs. Twist, bend, and trim component leads with hand tools, then solder wire leads and joints on the underside of boards using a soldering iron to route and connect lead wires. Proficiently solder through-hole components into circuit boards and perform wire crimping, stripping, and soldering. Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, and specifications to accurately assemble products. Utilize handheld and power tools such as screwdrivers and hand-drills while performing 5S activities to maintain equipment and work area cleanliness. Collaborate with the Quality department to ensure products meet standards and participate in process improvement activities.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ years previous electro-mechanical assembly experience
- Basic soldering experience
- Basic computer skills
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Basic math skills
- Problem solving skills
- Knowledge and awareness of ESD (Electro-Static Discharge) environment
- Be capable of twisting, bending, trimming component leads using hand tools
- Solders wire leads and joints on underside of board, using soldering iron, to route and connect lead wires to board and between individual components
- Proficient at soldering through-hole components into circuit boards
- Surface mount experience
- Read, interpret, and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble equipment and products
- Utilize handheld and power tools such as a screwdrivers and hand-drill
- Wire crimping, stripping, and soldering
- Perform 5S activities and maintain equipment in proper working order, and improve work area cleanliness
- Perform work in a safe and healthy manner; ensuring deviations to standard work instructions that will lead to quality, productivity, or safety problems are immediately identified
- Identify and communicate ideas to team leaders that support improving the teams performance and the elimination of waste
- Participate in process improvement activities
- Display professional conduct with customers and coworkers
- Attend training sessions as needed or required
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without needing current or future employer-sponsored work authorization
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of one-year electronic manufacturing experience
- Electronic component-level soldering skills for PCB assembly
- IPC-A-610, IPC-J-STD-001, or IPC-A-620
