Job Summary
Mechanical Assembler I handles the assembly of mechanical housings, systems, and hardware for standalone products and those containing PCB assemblies. Work is performed standing and involves using a range of hand tools and pneumatic tools to read and follow blueprints, diagrams, and instructions, perform quality checks, identify defects, and rework as needed. The role requires handling moisture-sensitive components per MSL, adhering to ISO/QMS standards, and supporting 6S and safety initiatives. Candidates should be comfortable performing repetitive tasks, reading assembly instructions, and integrating electrical assemblies with mechanical housings. Preferred familiarity with IPC standards (IPC-DVD-64C, IPC-A-610) and computer-assisted manufacturing systems are noted. Education/experience hints indicate 0-6 months preferred, with normal supervision and the ability to work on one or two product lines.
Required Qualifications
- Read, interpret and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, BOMs
- Use hand tools and pneumatic tools (torque drivers, torque wrenches, screwdrivers)
- Monitor processes and quality, perform quality checks
- Identify defects and document appropriately
- Adhere to ISO standards and quality management systems
- Ability to stand for up to 8 hours
- Mechanical aptitude/dexterity and ability to lift up to 35 lbs
- Experience/ability to assemble mechanical housings and integrate electrical assemblies and cables
