Job Summary
Read and follow entry-level blueprints, shop orders, and specifications to produce and assemble machine parts accurately and timely. Measure components using scales, micrometers, and calipers while operating overhead cranes, rigging equipment, and material handling machinery. Utilize hand tools, portable power tools, and stationary equipment such as drill presses, band saws, and grinders to complete assembly tasks. Maintain a clean work area and prepare parts for painting. Occasionally assist with department cleanup and improvement projects. Work in a factory environment requiring adherence to safety protocols and PPE, including exposure to loud noise and moving mechanical parts. Occasional travel on company business may be required.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma
- Mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and make metric system conversions
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and other manufacturing instructions
- Knowledge and ability to use hand tools and machine tools such as drill press, band saw, cut-off saw and grinder
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as a team
- Ability to collaborate with others (including in-person) to proactively develop solutions
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to travel internationally and domestically
- Ability to operate material handling equipment
- Basic knowledge of carpentry, electrical, and pneumatics
- Ability to navigate CAD documents
- Ability to operate overhead cranes and rigging procedures
- Ability to operate material handling equipment
- Ability to use portable power tools
- Ability to use stationary power tools such as lathe, band saw, grinder, as well as tap & die equipment
- Ability to use a computer
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment including safety glasses, ear protection, gloves, and safety shoes
- Ability to occasionally sit, climb or balance, reach above shoulders and use foot/feet to operate machinery
- Ability to regularly talk and listen, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Ability to frequently stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or touch, and move from place to place
