Job Summary
Assemble sub-assemblies, final assemblies, and systems per manufacturing drawings, Bill of Materials, schematics, and instructions. Operate hand tools and small power tools, inspect all work before passing it on, and perform repairs or refurbishments to return assemblies to operational state. Troubleshoot mechanical assemblies, conduct inventory cycle counts, and keep supervisors informed of potential issues for quick resolution. Work in the manufacturing area performing tasks that require walking, standing, reaching, and sitting for up to 10 hours a day, with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. This role supports new product assembly, refurbished components, testing, engineering prototype work, and building maintenance within a strong EHS program.
Required Qualifications
- Assemble sub-assemblies, final assemblies, and systems per manufacturing drawings, Bill of Materials, schematics, and instructions
- Operate hand tools and small power tools and understand their use and function
- Ability to learn how to use precision measuring tools and learn fitments/tolerances
- Basic knowledge of pneumatic schematics, symbols, and plumbing
- Ability to learn water/hydraulic schematics, symbols, and plumbing
- Inspect all work before passing it on to the next operation
- Perform required repairs/refurbishments to return assembly to operational state
- Keep supervisor informed of all potential issues for quick resolution
- Provide support to the production supervisor on all production assignments, and work with other departments regarding special work assignments
- Conduct inventory cycle counts
- Adhere to all safety policies and guidelines
- Must own basic hand tools (wrenches, sockets, hammers, screw drivers, pliers, etc) and keep tools at work
- 2-5 years' experience in machine building with thorough knowledge and understanding of blueprints, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- High School Diploma or equivalent; or relevant job-specific experience
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal communication
- Effective use of Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel)
- daily utilization of Microsoft Teams, D365, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Flexibility with customers' changing requirements, available to work overtime as needed, including weekends
- occasional requests for service help from the shop floor
- walk, stand, reach, and sit for up to 10 hours a day
- lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance
Desired Qualifications
- Experience assembling capital equipment
- Experience in the tire and rubber industry is a plus
- Train and progress in the ability to build equipment by reading/interpreting blueprints, schematics, assembly instructions, work orders, engineering drawings/models, etc. to enable production of parts consistent with current engineering configuration
- Good problem-solving skills, strong digital and analog skills, ability to troubleshoot in a logical manner
- Machine shop experience using milling machine and lathe is a plus
- Welding/soldering/brazing experience is a plus
- Tow motor experience is a plus
- Overhead crane experience is a plus
