Job Summary
Apprentice in Stagecoach's MECHELEC four-year programme based at Oxford Depot. The role combines classroom training with hands-on depot work, rotating through key vehicle systems, electricals, diagnostics, and transmissions under a mentor. Year 1 covers health and safety, tools, inspections, wheels and tyres, braking, engines, electrical principles, and fuel and lubrication systems; Year 2 expands on electrical and body electrics; Year 3 focuses on advanced diagnostics across engine, electrical, chassis, and transmission; Year 4 is bespoke to the trainee, aiming to prepare for a career as a qualified mechanic with opportunities for progression and exposure to new electric bus technology. The apprenticeship emphasizes learning alongside experienced technicians, use of modern diagnostic equipment, and a structured path toward Master Technician or management roles. Required Qualifications
- Three GCSEs at Grade C / 4 or above (or equivalent)
