Job Summary
Perform first-principles mechanical sizing and sanity checks for pressure vessels, agitators, pumps, and skid packages, acting as an internal filter to rigorously question vendor assumptions on power numbers and heat transfer coefficients. Co-author the basic design package deliverables including PFDs and equipment lists while leading mechanical interactions with specialized engineering suppliers through conceptual design to construction. Optimize physical design and troubleshoot mechanical systems on the in-house 30 L pilot reactor to facilitate customer sampling campaigns with minimal batch-to-batch variation. Map physical battery limits for utilities and waste streams across candidate co-location sites to inform strategic decision-making. Required Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of hands-on experience handling challenging physical streams
- Proven track record performing first-principles engineering sizing
- Proven track record generating basic design documentation
- Proven track record managing skid or modular fabricators through detail design, FAT, and SAT
- Experience with small-to-medium scale modular skid plants
- Comfort with structured engineering calculations
- Comfort with experimental/equipment logs
- Comfort with lightweight data tools such as Excel, Google Sheets, Python, or dashboards
- Professional German proficiency (B2/C1+)
