Job Summary

Adjust and maintain industrial machinery, dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment, and repair or replace subassemblies using hand tools, jacks, and cranes. Diagnose faults using computerized test equipment, examine parts for damage, and fabricate needed items from sheet metal. Overhaul mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, weld broken parts, and schedule maintenance while keeping service records. Adhere to technical documentation and report tolerance issues to ensure compliance with manufacturers' specifications. This role involves working in open-air, noisy, and hot conditions, potentially aboard ships or rigs both on and offshore, requiring climbing and lifting in confined spaces.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have working knowledge of procedures
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to follow directions
  • Must be able to read mechanic precise measuring equipment
  • Must be able to read and interpret basic drawings and technical manuals
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and measure using the metric system
  • Must be TWIX card and DBIDS credential eligible
  • Must pass a drug screen
  • Must have a current U.S Driver's License
  • Must wear hearing, eye, head protection and proper PPE when required
  • Must be able to climb 100 feet
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Desired Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Certificate from college or technical school or equivalent combination of education and experience in mechanic role
  • Industrial and/or marine advanced mechanical experience
  • Journeyman 3: 5+ years and/or specialized training
  • Journeyman 2: 3-5 years
  • Journeyman 1: 1-3 years
  • 2 years' experience working in a Shipyard/and or industrial environment
  • General Knowledge of USN Standard Items
  • Knowledge of valves repair and re-build
  • Knowledge of repair and overhaul of pumps
  • Knowledge of machinery alignment
