Job Summary
Perform minor and major mechanical repairs on school buses and district vehicles, using diagnostic equipment to identify issues, and conduct preventive maintenance per schedules. Responsibilities include diagnosing mechanical/electrical problems, performing repairs, welding and minor body work, rotating/balancing tires, changing oil/filters, maintaining repair records, and ensuring safe operation of vehicles. Must operate and service district vehicles in a safe shop environment, meet DOT testing/physical requirements, and be capable of lifting heavy components. Qualifications include a High school diploma or GED, Texas CDL with P and S endorsements (or ability to obtain within six weeks), ASE preferred, and ability to read/interpret technical manuals with strong communication skills. The role may require irregular hours and serving as a substitute bus driver as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Clear and valid Texas commercial driver’s license (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements or ability to obtain one within six weeks of employment
- ASE certification(s) preferred
