Job Summary

Diagnose, service, and repair department trucks, tractors, landscape management equipment, and heavy machinery while performing basic building maintenance and metal fabrication. Conduct general repairs, order parts with manager approval, and complete work orders to document all service activities. Operate equipment including bobcats, trenchers, and compactors, assist with snow removal during winter months, and perform general building maintenance tasks as assigned. Ensure adherence to safety policies, maintain clean workstations, and report major mechanical problems or safety concerns to the Shop Manager. Lead by example by providing guidance on policies and procedures to other shop employees.

Required Qualifications

  • A valid United States driver's license with a good driving record
  • At least 1-3 years of experience as a Service Technician or Mechanic, with knowledge of automotive and small engines
  • Experience working on heavy equipment such as bobcats, loaders, and skid steers used in landscape installation
  • Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
  • Ability to operate vehicles with manual transmission
  • Basic computer skills to update computerized work orders and systems
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues efficiently
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team, following written and oral instructions
  • Stands and walks for long periods throughout the day
  • Frequently lifts objects from the ground and consistently lifts up to 50 pounds; occasionally lifts and carries weights of up to 75 pounds or more
  • Regularly squats, stoops, or kneels and extends arms overhead
  • Requires fine motor skills for the use of small equipment and hand tools
  • Approximately 40-50 hours per week, depending on workload
  • Typical hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm
  • Saturday hours may be required
  • Hours may vary during the winter months (December through March) based on snow removal needs

Desired Qualifications

  • A technical degree or certificate in automotive repair or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • A commercial driver's license (CDL)
  • Previous experience in metal fabrication
  • Experience operating trenchers, excavators, loaders, bobcats, or skid steers
  • Working on heavy equipment or in the Landscape or Construction industry
