Job Summary
Mechanic needed at Sharks Ice in San Jose to ensure reliability, safety, and performance of ice resurfacing equipment and related arena systems. Responsibilities include operating, inspecting, and maintaining ice resurfacers, ice edgers, chippers, and related equipment; performing preventive maintenance (blade/oil changes, lubrication, scheduled service); diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, propane, electrical, and control system issues; executing major/emergency repairs to minimize downtime; responding to urgent issues during off-hours; managing parts inventory; training Ice Technicians on equipment operation and safety; coordinating with Ice Technicians, Supervisors, and Management; assisting with facility operations as Building Supervisor when needed; ensuring safety policy compliance and proper evacuation procedures; and performing other duties to support rink operations.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of hands-on mechanical experience (industrial, heavy equipment, fleet, or facility maintenance preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of internal combustion engines (propane preferred), hydraulics, electrical systems and diagnostics
- Experience troubleshooting independently and working under pressure
- Valid California Driver's License
- Certified Ice Technician (CIT) – US Rink Association (Preferred)
