Mechanic - Production-Aerofil Day Shift

Job Summary
Mechanic role supporting maintenance and continuous improvement on production lines, including TPM audits, SMED, and preventive/predictive programs. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and repairing equipment, assisting with changeovers, using 5-why/6-step troubleshooting, following setup sheets, coordinating with operators and supervisors, and maintaining line performance reliability. Requires welding/fabrication skills, knowledge of electrical and control systems, ability to read blueprints, and willingness to learn set-up, changeover, and operation of equipment. Strong safety/PPE practices and teamwork are emphasized; position requires standing, manual tasks, and ability to work across shifts with some overtime. Educational prerequisites include a High School Diploma or equivalent and relevant mechanical maintenance training/certifications; minimum 1 year maintenance experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Bennett Mechanical with a minimum score of 70%
- Ramsay Combined Basic Skills with a minimum score of 70%
- Ramsay Mechanical Maintenance Trainee with a minimum score of 60%
- Minimum 1 year experience in a maintenance related field
- Basic Welding (MIG / TIG) and fabrication skills (aluminum, stainless steel and mild steel)
- Working knowledge of AC/DC circuits, AC/DC Drives, PLC, motor controls and 208v, 230v, and 480v electrical power distribution
- Understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders, valves, solenoids; ability to troubleshoot using a schematic
- Knowledge of industrial mechanics including gears, belts, sheaves, bearings, couplings and drives
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics and equipment manuals
- Background in packaging equipment is preferred
- Arc flash certification level 2, Scissor/Boom Lift Certification and Forklift Certification (optional)
- Willingness to attend outside classes as needed
- Ability to work overtime or flexible hours
- Commitment to the position for a minimum of 2 years (with possible promotion)
- Proficiency with search engines, Word, Excel, and basic tablet usage
- Must pass drug/alcohol tests as a condition of employment
