Job Summary
Skilled mechanical repair at Harrison Power Station including rigging, dismantling, overhauling, repairing, testing, and assembly of rotating and plant auxiliary equipment; operating overhead and mobile cranes; fabricating parts, tooling, and fixtures; welding, brazing, soldering and pipe fitting; inspecting and maintaining plant mechanical equipment; reading and applying complex drawings and blueprints; ensuring safety and training other employees in on-the-job procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Two-year technical or applied science degree from an accredited college or university, or three years’ experience as a certified Journeyman applicable to the work, or equivalent military experience in maintenance, or three years related experience in a power-producing utility or related industry.
- Must be able to pass the Edison Electric Institute POSS/MASS test.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license(s).
- Must be able to pass a respirator fit test.
- Must be able to work from specifications, complex drawings, and blueprints; work in strict accordance with these documents.
- Working knowledge of safe applications and use of vehicles, cranes, slings, bars, rollers, and other equipment and tools.
- Must be able to work in high places and in restricted or confined spaces; able to work from scaffolds, boiler chairs, staging, ladders, etc.
- Ability to receive and pass on orders to others while maintaining safety and cooperation; willingness to work shifts and overtime.
