Job Summary

Diagnose, remove, repair, and rebuild clutches, water pumps, tires, suspension, differentials, drive lines, transmissions, wheel seals, and brake systems on trailers and refrigeration units. Perform preventative maintenance, tune up diesel engines, conduct diagnostic tests, cut or weld, and align front and rear axles. Troubleshoot cooling systems, read service bulletins and technical manuals, maintain shop tools, and complete paperwork and computer input. Operate required equipment and comply with safety rules while communicating effectively with supervisors and peers. Work independently and in a team environment with a Sunday to Thursday shift, including on-call rotation and road calls.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Trade school graduate in heavy duty diesel repairs, and/or refrigeration classes
  • 2 years job experience on diesel repairs, tractor- trailer, refrigeration maintenance and repairs
  • One year documented experience in fleet maintenance or one-year employment with company at upper scale of Class C Technician
  • Posses basic hand tools (up to 1⁄2" drive) and tool storage
  • Possess or acquire within 1 year from date of hire a current ASE certification in Medium/Heavy Truck Preventative Maintenance Inspection (PMI) (Test T8)
  • Valid Class C Drivers License
  • Certification with International Maxx Force 13 Engines
  • Certification in Transportation Refrigeration
  • Brake Systems and components
  • Tractor A/C Refrigeration and Freon Recovery (609 license required)
  • Trailer Refrigeration 608 license required if working on trailer units
  • Heavy Duty electrical diagnostics and repairs
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely

Desired Qualifications

  • Beginning level
  • Class A license
  • ASE Certification in heavy duty mechanics
  • Cummins or Detroit certification
