Job Summary
Mechanic I responsible for repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment in a scrap-yard environment. Duties include repairing and replacing damaged components, maintaining machinery to manufacturers' specifications, documenting repairs, testing repaired equipment, reading and understanding operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings, diagnosing faults with engine diagnostic equipment and calibration devices, and ensuring adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. The role emphasizes safe, high-quality repairs, routine maintenance, and collaboration with maintenance supervision to uphold internal controls and safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED Certification
- 5 years of experience assisting skilled trades persons in the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment
- valid driver's license and ability to drive an automobile
