Job Summary

Troubleshoots and performs major engine repairs, including valve work, injector replacement, and transmission overhauls on heavy construction equipment like bulldozers, graders, and trucks. Repairs hydraulic systems, electrical components, and performs welding repairs and fabrication for snow removal attachments. Diagnoses computer-controlled salt spreader systems and converts winter equipment to summer configurations. Operates snow removal machinery during storms and develops solutions to add value for customers. Works independently to exercise judgment on operating techniques and may direct other staff on projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or 2-year diploma in diesel maintenance or closely related field
  • Previous paid work experience repairing diesel engines and heavy-duty trucks and/or equipment
  • 2 years paid mechanic work experience repairing diesel engines and heavy-duty trucks and/or equipment
  • Valid driver license, including a Wisconsin Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) without air brake restrictions, tanker endorsement
  • Selected candidate must pass the required Class A CDL written exams and obtain this license within 6 months of hire
  • Driving record that meets Marathon County standards
