Job Summary
Assist mechanics in repairing vehicles and engines, maintain garage area in a clean, safe condition, perform tire maintenance and replacements, participate in scheduled inspections of school bus and district vehicles, support motor vehicle road calls and recoveries, and collaborate with other staff. Requires physical strength and knowledge of general mechanic work; includes compliance with background screening and drug testing per district policy. Provides opportunities related to benefits and employee wellness programs.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to perform work involving physical strength and endurance
- Knowledge (or the ability to gain knowledge) of the methods utilized in general mechanic work
- Valid Class A commercial driver’s license with appropriate endorsements to operate a school bus within six (6) months of employment (or ability to obtain within six (6) months of meeting FDOT licensing requirements)
- High school diploma or equivalent*Preferred
- *Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate.
