Mechanic

Job Summary

Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on semi-trucks, tank trailers, vacuum trucks, and heavy equipment in both shop and field environments. Diagnose and fix mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and air brake systems while interpreting diagnostic tools and oil analysis reports. Respond to roadside service calls, manage work orders, and maintain DOT compliance and safety standards. Operate welding and torch equipment, manage parts inventory, and conduct pre- and post-repair inspections. Maintain a clean, safe work environment and perform general shop upkeep. Work rotating shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Mechanic
  • Strong working knowledge of Diesel engines and drivetrain systems
  • Strong working knowledge of Air brake systems and hydraulics
  • Strong working knowledge of Electrical and diagnostic systems
  • Ability to diagnose and repair equipment in both shop and field environments
  • Experience with diagnostic software and maintenance tracking systems
  • Welding and fabrication experience (steel, torch, plasma cutting)
  • Understanding of DOT compliance and maintenance documentation
  • Must own a complete set of personal tools (1⁄2” drive and smaller)
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize workload
  • Physical capability to perform demanding labor in various environments
  • Flexibility to work overtime, evenings, or weekends based on operational needs

Desired Qualifications

  • Pass a Pre-Employment DOT Physical, Drug Screen and Alcohol testing
  • Pass a Pre-Employment Background Screening
  • Pass the Company's Auto Insurance Qualifiers
  • Pass the OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour training
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • CDL (or willingness to obtain)
  • ASE certifications or equivalent experience
  • Tank trailer (HM183) experience
  • Experience working in industrial or harsh environments
  • Able to read, write, and understand the English language, and able to follow verbal and written instructions
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Ability to work a rotating shift, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
