Job Summary
Perform standard vehicle maintenance, preventive maintenance, and complex mechanical inspections on heavy-duty and medium-duty equipment. Diagnose electronic problems using diagnostic computers and replace defective components with minimal supervision. Interact with customers to determine complaint nature, utilize the Shop Management System for electronic documentation, and mentor Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels. Complete required OEM diagnostic scan tool courses and facility maintenance duties while adhering to federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines. Drive Ryder vehicles and support operations as required.
Required Qualifications
- Basic tools
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines
- Routine preventative maintenance
- Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems
- Three (3) years or more relevant work experience
- All other certification as required by location
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy duty and medium duty equipment
- Knowledge of and the ability to apply knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
- Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
- Must pass a Ryder Drug Test
- Must pass a DOT physical
- Must pass a Ryder road test
- Must pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
- SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT220)
