Job Summary
Mechanic responsible for maintaining and repairing tractor-trailers, rig equipment, trucks and related equipment. Performs routine maintenance, minor repairs, and simple inspections; keeps maintenance logs; may collect bids for off-site repairs. Requires familiarity with oxygen/acetylene equipment for minor welding/soldering, strong preventive maintenance knowledge, and ability to operate in field conditions (over 50% time in the field). Must pass drug screen and fitness assessment, have acceptable criminal history, and qualify as a company-approved driver. Typically 3-5 years of oil field or construction mechanic experience; English communication skills needed for instructions and documentation. Pay range in California: $33.80-$35.00 per hour, with benefits including health, 401(k) with company match, and PTO.
Required Qualifications
- Three to five years of previous oil field or construction industry mechanic experience
- Pass the Company’s Drug Screen and applicable Physical Fitness Assessment
- Have an acceptable criminal history
- Qualify to be a company approved driver
- Physical ability to perform heavy manual labor
- Good mechanical aptitude
- Familiarity with automotive and rig equipment
- Basic skill in identifying minor repair requirements of related equipment
- Ability to remove and replace minor mechanical components
- Understanding of preventive maintenance practices and procedures
- Ability to perform simple mathematic calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication with whole numbers, fractions, decimals)
- Ability to communicate in English (verbal and written instructions, documentation)
