Job Summary
Mechanic C performs preventative maintenance inspections, diagnoses, and repairs minor coach problems; assists other mechanics, helps to ensure a work environment that meets safety and regulatory standards for Keolis Transit North America. He/she conducts inspections on all coach systems (engine, brakes, cooling, electrical, HVAC, suspend/steering, tires, transmission) following vehicle-specific checklists, uses diagnostic equipment, documents work orders, and tests vehicles (including road tests) to ensure proper operation. The role requires 3+ years of heavy equipment maintenance experience, a high school diploma or GED, a Texas CDL Class B with passenger endorsement or ability to obtain it, ability to work in a 24/7 environment, strong communication skills, and a safety-first approach. Additional duties include assisting mechanics A and B, maintaining a clean workspace, and complying with safety, environmental, and equal employment policies.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Driver’s license required
- Must be able to obtain a Texas Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class B with passenger endorsement
- Experience with diagnostic computer equipment required
- At least 3 years of progressive heavy equipment maintenance experience
- Basic understanding of design, adjustment, overhaul of medium to heavy duty braking systems
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test
- Must be able to work in a 24/7 environment
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Able to lift up to 75 pounds
- Must be able to perform preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on coaches
- Ability to document questions and diagnostic information for management
- Knowledge of safety equipment usage
