Job Summary
Mechanic C performs preventative maintenance inspections, diagnoses, and repairs minor coach problems; assists other mechanics; conducts inspections and repairs following vehicle checklists; uses diagnostic equipment to identify issues; documents findings and parts/labor on work orders; conducts road tests to verify proper operation; maintains a safe, organized work environment in a 24/7 transit-vehicle maintenance facility in Austin, TX. Strong communication, problem-solving, and safety-first attitude are required to operate with limited supervision and to coordinate with Mechanic A/B and management.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Driver’s license required
- Must be able to obtain Texas Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class B with passenger endorsement
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test
- Experience with diagnostic computer equipment
- Must have basic understanding of design, adjustment, overhaul of medium to heavy duty braking systems
- Must be able to work in a 24/7 environment
- Must be able to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with management personnel
- Must be able to perform physical activities including lifting up to 75 pounds
- Must be able to work amid constant interruptions and prioritize tasks
- High attention to safety and ability to follow procedures
- Experience with preventative maintenance inspections and repairs on coaches/buses
- Ability to inspect, diagnose, and repair coach systems (ADA equipment, brakes, engine, cooling, etc.)
- Ability to complete and document work orders accurately
