Job Summary
Mechanic B at a power-plant site will pursue a path toward Mechanic A, performing electrical or mechanical maintenance on power plant components and equipment. Responsibilities include maintaining, repairing, and installing mechanical systems such as power piping, valves, tanks, vessels, and rotating equipment (fans, blowers, pumps, motors). Work requires use of field power tools and precision measuring equipment, with knowledge in confined space entry, pipe fitting, welding (GTAW, SMAW), rigging, scaffolding, boiler-tube repair, mechanical drawing, and reading schematics/engineering prints. The role encompasses a broad set of mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks to ensure reliable plant operation.
Required Qualifications
- Mechanic B with electrical or mechanical maintenance responsibilities on power plant components
- experience reading schematic drawings and engineering prints
- familiarity with confined space entry, welding (GTAW, SMAW), rigging, scaffolding, and basic electrical concepts
- ability to install, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment in a power plant setting
