Job Summary
Complete assigned avionics maintenance tasks by installing, adjusting, and replacing electrical components, assemblies, and systems using hand tools, power tools, and soldering irons. Set up ground support equipment to perform functional flight tests, interpret data to diagnose malfunctions, and fabricate parts or test aids as required. Coordinate work with engineers and other technicians while ensuring all paperwork, tool accounting, and shift turnover information are properly documented. Perform additional duties as assigned in accordance with job cards, engineering orders, and maintenance manuals.
Required Qualifications
- Education in aircraft avionics through programs including but not limited to A&P curriculum or other certified aircraft training programs such as military training
- Experience ranging from apprenticeship level and above
- OSHA training
- Hazardous Waste Materials training
- Demonstrated ability to use wire strippers
- Demonstrated ability to use crimp tools
- Demonstrated ability to use insertion/extraction tools
- Demonstrated ability to use voltmeters
- Demonstrated ability to use various test equipment relevant to avionics
- Demonstrated ability to read/interpret schematic and circuit diagrams
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot as required for aircraft systems and assemblies
- Knowledge of AMMs

- Ability to coordinate work with that of engineers, technicians and other aircraft maintenance personnel
- Ability to interpret flight test data to diagnose malfunctions and systemic performance problems
- Ability to install electrical and electronic components, assemblies and systems in aircraft using hand tools, power tools or soldering irons
- Ability to adjust or replace malfunctioning components or assemblies
- Ability to connect components to assemblies such as radio systems, instruments, magnetos, inverters and in-flight refueling systems, using hand tools and soldering irons
- Ability to assemble components such as switches, electrical controls and junction boxes using hand tools or soldering irons
- Ability to fabricate parts and test aids as required

- Must be able to work in combination of inside and outside with changing climate conditions
