Job Summary
Overhaul and repair all custodial equipment using gas and arc welding when needed. Operate testing equipment and power tools to service machines, perform field repairs at district sites, and diagnose mechanical problems. Train and instruct part-time assistants and employees on equipment operation and care. Maintain shop cleanliness and assist other personnel with assigned duties. Requires a valid Arizona driver's license, minimum two years repairing electrical equipment, and experience with vacuums, blowers, and buffers. Work primarily in a maintenance garage or yard, lifting objects over 50 lbs, with exposure to noise, fumes, and chemicals. Follow safety protocols and wear protective gear. Part-time role (25 hours/week) at $21.01 hourly with available performance pay.
Required Qualifications
- Valid, or ability to obtain, Arizona driver's license
- Minimum two years' mechanical experience repairing electrical equipment
- Experience repairing custodial equipment (i.e. backpack vacuums, upright vacuums, sidewalk blowers, auto scrubbers, buffers, etc.)
- Minor experience with gas and arc welding
- Ability to operate and understand testing equipment used to identify equipment for repair
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot all mechanical equipment problems
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor and lifting
- Must frequently lift and carry objects weighing 50 lbs. or more (such as tools, tires, and equipment parts)
- Must be able to follow safety protocols and wear protective gear like gloves, goggles, steel-toe boots, and coveralls
Desired Qualifications
- High School education or equivalent
- Supervisory experience helpful
- Knowledge of tools, materials, methods and safe working practices related to custodial equipment repair helpful
