Job Summary
Execute routine maintenance and janitorial duties for vessels and facilities, including diagnosing and repairing primary vessel systems, pumps, and pilothouse electronics. Replace shop-serviceable engine components, fabricate parts for life-saving systems, and perform basic electrical troubleshooting using laptops to clear fault alarms. Prioritize engineering shop duties across Alcatraz Island, Pier 33, and Yard Periods while ensuring all repairs are completed safely and documented accurately. Mentor fellow crewmembers on safety protocols and maintain tools and workspaces in a clean, operational state.
Required Qualifications
- 1 Year of Industry Experience or successful completion of Apprentice Mechanic Program
- Functional understanding of electricity and the relevant safe industry practices for working around it
- HAZWOPER certificate (40 hours)
- Forklift Certification
- CPR & First Aid Certification
