Mechanic A - HVAC/Pump & Power

Mechanic A leads fleet maintenance operations at the branch, mentors B and C level mechanics, and performs preventative and corrective maintenance on Herc Rentals’ heavy equipment. Responsibilities include developing maintenance schedules, operating and testing equipment to meet quality standards, diagnosing engines, hydraulics, fuel systems, and DC electrical systems, performing major repairs with diagnostic tools, conducting oil changes and lubrication, assisting with damage estimates, entering and reviewing work orders, ordering parts via the fleet management system, reconditioning and replacing parts, identifying wear or damage, taking service calls when the shop lead is absent, producing service reports and repair logs, and training junior mechanics while following company procedures. Skills include reading detailed schematics and manuals, operating equipment (boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, generators, hydraulics), driving/operating multiple vehicle types, effective communication, time management, and basic computer use for work orders.
