Job Summary
Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, schematics, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service on machinery in process and packaging operations. Conduct preventative maintenance using computerized check-ups, SPC charts, and statistical data while troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electronic, and PLC components. Complete work orders timely, utilizing hand and power tools to identify issues and implement continuous improvement opportunities. Train junior mechanics and ensure all documentation adheres to Standard Operating Procedures and FDA, USDA, and HACCP regulations. Follow strict work safe practices including lockout-tagout and personal protective equipment requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree
- Advanced Technology Certification and or Competency Based Education (SACA) Smart Automation Credential Alliance
- Minimum (7) years' experience maintaining/repairing a variety of technical equipment and machines
- Experience in dairy
- Ability to inspect equipment, identify potential issues, and take corrective action to prevent failures or downtime
- Skilled in troubleshooting and overhauling pumps and process valves
- Proficient in reading ladder logic and utilizing PLCs for troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and control systems
- Ability to do basic welding
- Strong understanding of Ethernet and Artificial Systems-Interface communication
- Proficient at using and training other technicians on all types of electrical meters
- Proficient in laser alignment tools
- Familiarity with Food Drug Administration (FDA), U.S. Department Agriculture (USDA) and other food safety regulations
- Proficient in Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and sanitation protocols
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely
