Job Summary
Mechanic (2nd Shift) responsible for skilled repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment, including heavy construction equipment, snow removal equipment, aircraft crash trucks and fire/police vehicles with onboard computer systems. Responsibilities include diagnosing mechanical defects, repairing brake systems (ABS), hydraulic and electrical systems, testing components after repair, maintaining repair records, performing emergency repairs in all weather, operating and inspecting vehicles, and ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications. The role requires airfield driving on the airfield ramps and involvement in snow removal operations as needed; a minimum of 5 years’ experience in repairing large diesel-powered equipment and possession of a Class A CDL (or ability to obtain one within 6 months), along with SIDA clearance and a valid driver's license. Education is minimum HSD/GED, and the position adheres to OSHA and FAA regulations with proficiency in using a range of hand and power tools and reading manuals/blueprints.
