Job Summary
Mechanic 2, Equipment responsible for high-level skilled mechanical work including maintenance, repair, overhaul and replacement of gasoline and diesel engines across automobiles, trucks, heavy equipment and related machinery. Primary duties include disassembly/inspection of parts with precision tools, overhaul/ replacement of carburetors, ignition systems, brakes and alignment, welding and minor body repairs, preparing materials, coordinating with school staff, and ensuring safety and compliance per OSHA standards. Requires operating and using hand and power tools, adherence to safety protocols, after-hours response, and documentation of inventory and service activities. Preference given to veteran status and spouses of veterans.
Required Qualifications
- Six (6) years of increasingly responsible experience in all types of automotive and vehicular equipment
- Must possess a Class E Driver’s License and comply with HCPS Safe Driver Plan
- Phase II Class B Driver’s License must be obtained within 90 days of hire date
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals
- Mathematical Skills: Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure
- Reasoning Ability: Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Computer Skills: Microsoft Office
- Language Skills: Read, write, speak clearly
