Job Summary

Diagnose and repair diesel, gas, and hydraulic systems on trailers, plant equipment, and fleet vehicles including wheel loaders and farm tractors. Troubleshoot air brake systems, suspension components, and drivetrains using diagnostics software and scan tools to identify and resolve issues. Perform preventive maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks while maintaining accurate service records and work orders in fleet management systems. Respond to roadside service calls for disabled vehicles and mentor Mechanic 1 as needed. Adhere to all company safety rules and participate in ongoing training and certification programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have valid Driver's license
  • Brake Certification required
  • 3+ years of experience in vehicle maintenance or related technical field OR Vocational training plus 1+ year of related work
  • Must have personal basic tool set to perform preventative maintenance (based on location)
  • Proficiency of diesel and gasoline engine operation and components
  • Experience with OEM diagnostics tools and software
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, work orders, and technical manuals
  • Experience with hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment
  • Detail oriented; highly organized
  • Proficient experience with basic computer tasks and use of fleet software
  • Class A CDL (depending on location Class A CDL is required, confirm with location)
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position (Sit)
  • Must be able to move about inside/outside office or work location (Walk)
  • Must be able to position one's self to maintain computers in the lab, including under desks and in the server closet (Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl)
  • Must be able to ascend/descend on a ladder (Climb or balance)
  • Must be able to use senses to; effectively communicate with co-workers and clients and detect hazardous conditions (Talk, hear, taste, smell)
  • Up to 50 pounds

Desired Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • ASE certifications in areas such as Diesel Engines, Brakes, and Electrical Systems desired
  • Ability to successfully lead teams
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Self-starter; self-motivated
