Job Summary
Conduct routine maintenance and basic repairs on trailers, diesel, and gasoline vehicles, as well as plant equipment including wheel loaders, skid steers, and farm tractors. Perform preventive tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks while inspecting and replacing components like belts, hoses, batteries, and lights. Diagnose mechanical issues using basic tools, review driver inspection reports, and assist senior mechanics with complex repairs. Maintain shop cleanliness, document work in fleet systems, and respond to roadside service calls. Adhere strictly to safety protocols and participate in required training programs.
Required Qualifications
- Must have valid Driver's license
- 1+ year experience in vehicle maintenance or related technical field
- Must have personal basic tool set to perform preventative maintenance (based on location)
- Basic understanding of diesel and gasoline engine operation and components
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment
- Experience with basic computer tasks and use of fleet software
- Detail oriented; highly organized
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position
- Must be able to move about inside/outside office or work location
- Must be able to position one's self to maintain computers in the lab, including under desks and in the server closet
- Must be able to ascend/descend on a ladder
- Must be able to use senses to; effectively communicate with co-workers and clients and detect hazardous conditions
- Must be able to identify and distinguish colors
- Must be able to adjust focus
- Must be able to detect hazardous conditions
Desired Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Class A CDL preferred, may be required based on requirements of the location
- Brake certification preferred, must be obtained within 6 months of hire date
- Vocational training preferred
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Self-starter; self-motivated
