Job Summary
Receive, store, and grind meats; unloads and transports fresh, cured, and boxed meats and poultry from delivery trucks; counts and weighs incoming articles against invoices; and examines stored meats to rotate products and avoid aging. Provide prompt, friendly customer service by assisting shoppers with questions, special orders, and product location guidance while maintaining a positive environment. Perform general housekeeping duties including cleaning and sanitizing work areas, tables, floors, walls, cases, coolers, and freezers. Adhere to all safety, health, and procedural guidelines set by the Meat Department while executing the "Clean as You Go" and "Fresh at 4" Programs.
Required Qualifications
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Have a basic knowledge of math, weights and measures
- Be dependable and reliable
- Have an outgoing and friendly behavior
- Have a positive attitude
- Have the ability to interact with customers
- Have the ability to work a flexible schedule that changes as the business changes including nights, weekends and holidays
- Have good communication skills
- Have the ability to take direction
- Be able to participate in a team environment
- Must be capable of standing for up to 4 hours continuously
- Must be able to stand for a total of 8 hours per shift
- Be able to walk up to 2 miles per 8 hours
- Be able to work inside a temperature controlled area
- Possess good vision
- Be able to lift/carry products horizontally/vertically between 25 to 90 lbs.
- Be able to lift/carry products from 4 to 60 inches
- Be able to lift/carry products a distance up to 10 feet for 20 hours
- Be able to use a pallet jack to move pallets horizontally up to 500 lbs.
- Be able to exert a force of up to 85 lbs.
- Be able to move pallets a distance up to 100 feet for up to 5 hours
- Be able to horizontally move racks of products weighing up to 70 lbs.
- Be able to exert a force up to 25 lbs.
- Be able to move racks a distance up to 50 feet for up to 10 hours
- Be able to move tables weighing up to 70 lbs.
- Be able to exert a force greater than 35 lbs.
- Be able to move tables a distance up to 2 feet for up to 1 hour
