Meat/Seafood Clerk

Job Summary
Receive, store, and grind meats; unloads and transports fresh, cured, and boxed meats and poultry from delivery trucks; counts and weighs incoming articles against invoices; and rotates stored meats to prevent aging. Provide prompt, friendly customer service by assisting shoppers with questions, special orders, and product location guidance while adhering to the "Clean as You Go" and "Fresh at 4" programs. Perform general housekeeping, clean and sanitize work areas, and operate equipment including grinders, saws, and pallet jacks. Work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays, standing for up to four hours continuously while lifting products up to 90 lbs.
Required Qualifications
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Have a basic knowledge of math, weights and measures
- Be dependable and reliable
- Have an outgoing and friendly behavior
- Have a positive attitude
- Have the ability to interact with customers
- Have the ability to work a flexible schedule that changes as the business changes including nights, weekends and holidays
- Have good communication skills
- Have the ability to take direction
- Be able to participate in a team environment
- Must be capable of standing for up to 4 hours continuously
- Must be able to stand for a total of 8 hours per shift
- Must be able to walk up to 2 miles per 8 hours
- Be able to work inside a temperature controlled area
- Possess good vision
- Be able to lift/carry products horizontally/vertically between 25 to 90 lbs.
- Be able to lift/carry products from 4 to 60 inches
- Be able to lift/carry products a distance up to 10 feet
- Be able to lift/carry products for 20 hours
- Be able to use a pallet jack to move pallets horizontally up to 500 lbs.
- Be able to use a pallet jack requiring a force of up to 85 lbs.
- Be able to use a pallet jack a distance up to 100 feet
- Be able to use a pallet jack for up to 5 hours
- Be able to horizontally move racks of products weighing up to 70 lbs.
- Be able to horizontally move racks requiring a force up to 25 lbs.
- Be able to horizontally move racks a distance up to 50 feet
- Be able to horizontally move racks for up to 10 hours
- Be able to move tables weighing up to 70 lbs.
- Be able to move tables requiring a force greater than 35 lbs.
- Be able to move tables a distance up to 2 feet
- Be able to move tables for up to 1 hour
