Job Summary
Meat Clerk at Sprouts Farmers Market provides a high level of customer service in a fast-paced store, handling meat and poultry with safe food-handling procedures. Responsibilities include receiving, storing, and grinding meats; unloading deliveries; weighing and checking invoices; rotating stock to prevent aging; guiding customers with questions and special orders; maintaining knowledge of weekly ad items; and following the department’s Clean as You Go and Fresh at 4 programs. Requires 18+ years, a high school diploma or equivalent, basic math/weights knowledge, reliability, friendly demeanor, flexible schedule (nights/weekends/holidays), strong communication, teamwork, and ability to perform area sanitation and lifting tasks.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic knowledge of math, weights and measures
- Be dependable and reliable
- Outgoing and friendly demeanor
- Positive attitude and ability to interact with customers
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team
- General housekeeping and sanitation duties
- Ability to stand for up to 4 hours continuously and up to 8 hours per shift
- Ability to lift/carry 25-90 lbs and operate equipment (knife, band saw, grinder, sausage maker, tenderizer)
- Ability to move pallets and heavy racks/tables
- Ability to work in temperature-controlled environment
- Ability to move items up to 70-90 lbs with proper technique
- Prior experience in meat/seafood or retail environment preferred
