Job Summary
The Meat Clerk is responsible for serving customers, measuring, packaging, and stocking fresh meat while strictly adhering to safe food handling procedures. Key duties include opening cartons, using knives and power equipment to cut various meat types, wrapping and labeling packages according to standards, maintaining attractive displays, and ensuring cleanliness in the meat preparation area. Candidates should demonstrate effective communication, teamwork, and excellent customer service skills. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, along with the ability to work flexibly in a cold environment.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Ability to deliver friendly, courteous, prompt customer service.
- Dependable and flexible, including a willingness to work in other areas of the store, as needed with little or no advanced notice.
- Excellent customer service, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read, write, and do simple math problems including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to interpret and follow instructions.
Desired Qualifications
- Language proficiency in Spanish or other languages is desired.
- 3+ years of experience safely using manual pallet jacks, hand tools and power equipment, including but not limited to knives, wrappers, scales, slicers, cubing machine, and power saw (where certified to cut meat)
