Job Summary
Meat Manager leads the Meat Department at Food City in Knoxville, focusing on customer service, staffing, inventory and labor-cost management, scheduling, training, and adherence to sanitation and food-safety standards. Responsibilities include recruiting, hiring, orienting, training, and developing associates; implementing marketing programs and plan-o-grams; maintaining department paperwork and performance reviews; coordinating with store management to ensure staffing aligns with sales projections; enforcing policies and procedures; rotating and inspecting product and maintaining sanitation schedules; and fostering a positive, customer-first environment. Qualifications include an associate degree or equivalent experience, 3 years’ Meat Department operations experience, strong communication and problem-solving skills, leadership by example, and flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- 3 years’ experience in Meat Department operations
- Associate degree or equivalent work experience
- Must be able to resolve differences and diffuse difficult situations
- Knowledge of training methods
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions
- Flexibility in work hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to lead by example to give customers their best shopping experience
- Knowledge of Food City policies and procedures
- Expertise of all job duties in each area of responsibility
