Job Summary
Receive, cut, and serve smoked meats efficiently while stocking, packaging, and displaying products in the Meat Department. Monitor expiration dates, rotate inventory, and remove damaged items per procedure. Assist customers at the counter by weighing, wrapping, and pricing items; answer questions about department policies and resolve complaints professionally. Unload incoming shipments, sort merchandise, and change shelf tags to match UPC codes. Maintain a clean, safe work area and comply with all health regulations and sanitation guidelines. Operate and maintain equipment safely while meeting productivity standards. Obtain a food handling permit within 14 days of employment.
Required Qualifications
- A food handling permit
- Completion of ongoing training and development as listed on the Cosentino's Learning Plan
- Ability to reach overhead with both arms up to a maximum of 72 inches
- Ability to twist at the waist
- Ability to lift objects with both hands weighing up to 20 lbs
- Ability to push and pull grocery items/carts up to a peak force of 40 lbs
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time on tile, asphalt, concrete or other hard surfaces
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Ability to bend, squat and crouching, at times all the way to floor level
- Ability to work in colder conditions of the grocery coolers and freezers
- Strong verbal and interpersonal skills
- Basic math and reading skills
- Availability for weekend shifts
Desired Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent
