Job Summary
Meat Department Manager Trainee at Hy-Vee works alongside the department manager to develop skills in customer service excellence, department standards, profitability, and team leadership. Primary duties include recruiting, hiring, training, supervising and evaluating department staff; determining weekly work schedules; maintaining signage, merchandise displays, pricing accuracy, and inventory; processing invoices and department bookkeeping; analyzing weekly/monthly sales trends; planning displays, promotions, and pre-orders; ensuring proper temperatures and storage procedures; upholding hygiene and dress standards; and providing friendly, prompt service to customers while collaborating with other departments. Requires high school or equivalent and 6 months to 1 year of related experience; a fast-paced environment with strong communication and problem-solving abilities. Physical requirements and pre-employment drug screen are noted.
