Job Summary
Oversee product preparation, display, distribution, and inventory control to drive efficiency and sales. Ensure excellent customer service by identifying issues early and addressing feedback. Drive sales to meet targets while controlling labor, stock loss, and costs through data analysis. Track product sales and conduct monthly physical inventory counts using company systems. Supervise, delegate, schedule, and provide feedback to team members; recommend disciplinary actions, promotions, and hiring. Assist with accounting, administrative, maintenance, and marketing duties. Order products per schedule and verify quality and quantity upon delivery. Distribute, refill, and rotate stock using FIFO; manage cutting, trimming, packing, and price labeling. Lead cash handling, product returns, and procedures for expired or recalled items. Monitor store assets, implement policies, and report incidents. Maintain safe, sanitary conditions and clean equipment regularly. Monitor expiration dates, replenish products, and plan promotions with pricing and demos. Perform other duties as assigned. This short-term transitional role prepares employees for promotion to Meat Department Manager within 3 to 5 months.
Required Qualifications
- 1 year of supervisory experience in a meat department or equivalent (required)
- Ability to work assigned schedules including weekends and holidays
- Current or ability to obtain a Food Handler's certificate
- Knowledge of food production, product lines, and labeling
- Understanding of employment laws and federal, state, and local compliance requirements
- Knowledge of company and government safety regulations
- Strong communication, leadership, and time management skills
- Critical thinking, active listening, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to coach, mentor, and guide team members
- Ability to inspect and evaluate product quality
- Proficient with computer programs for data entry and reporting
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- Prolonged standing and walking
- Manual dexterity to grasp, manipulate, and assemble objects
- Ability to work in varying temperatures, moisture levels, and noise
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, or more with appropriate equipment
- Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodations
