Job Summary
Meat Manager oversees all aspects of the meat department, directing staff, scheduling shifts, ordering, and driving profitability. Responsibilities include unloading and cutting meat with saws and equipment, weighing, packaging, labeling, merchandising, stocking up to 6-foot high displays, and maintaining product freshness. Requires operating cutting-room machinery, handling knives and cleavers, lifting up to 100 pounds, working in refrigerated environments (0–55 degrees), reading/writing, basic arithmetic, and enforcing sanitation standards. Duties also include assisting customers, reporting and maintaining inventory, inventory control, vendor check-in, and preparing/measuring/branding price tags. Experience with scheduling and supervising employees, record-keeping, and ensuring product quality and cleanliness is essential.

- Operate saws, cubers, slicers, scales, grinders and labeling machines
- Normally work a maximum 8 hour shift
- Provide assistance to customers and employees
- Prepare, weigh, package and price product to maximize gross profit, stock, merchandise and rotate product
- Write work schedules and supervise employees
- Maintain sales and other written records
- Perform freshness checks and re-condition product
- Perform sweeping, cleaning and mopping functions
- Operate telephones and intercoms
- Maintain sanitation standards
