Job Summary
The meat specialist is a fully skilled role that cuts and merchandises all fresh meat commodities. Responsibilities include providing prompt, friendly customer service; escorting and assisting customers; cutting, tenderizing, grinding, and weighing meat; preparing cutting lists for case fills; conducting cutting tests; monitoring refrigeration; maintaining hygiene and department standards; and supporting store operations in the Meat Department. Requires high school or equivalent education and Hy-Vee food safety training, with over one year of related experience preferred; physical ability to handle heavy lifting and operate related equipment. Reports to the District Store Director / Store Manager and Meat Department leadership; ensures customer satisfaction and teamwork.
Required Qualifications
- High School or equivalent, Hy-Vee food safety training
- Over one year of related work experience preferred
- Must be 18+
- Must be physically able to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally, etc.
