Job Summary
Meat Specialist responsible for cutting and merchandizing fresh meat, providing prompt and friendly customer service, and maintaining department guidelines. Roles include tenderizing, grinding, and cutting merchandise; preparing cutting lists; conducting cutting tests; monitoring refrigeration; and upholding hygiene and safety standards. Requires arithmetic proficiency, ability to handle heavy items, and strong customer interaction skills. Education includes High School or equivalent with Hy-Vee food safety training and at least 1 year related experience preferred. Physical demands include extensive lifting and standing in a fast-paced environment; equipment used includes saws, grinders, tenderizers, knives, patty machines, wrapping system, rotisserie, and related tools. Pre-employment drug screening required.
