Job Summary
Cut and merchandise all fresh meat commodities by tenderizing, grinding, and preparing cutting lists for case fills. Greet customers promptly, escort them to products, and assist with heavy items while maintaining strict personal hygiene and dress guidelines. Monitor refrigeration temperatures, wrap and label product, and replenish coolers to ensure a pleasant shopping experience. Manage the department in the absence of the Meat Department Manager and Assistant Meat Department Manager. Perform cleaning duties, conduct cutting tests, and order new items as needed. This role requires physical exertion of up to 100 pounds occasionally and involves daily contact with customers, vendors, and the general public in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School or equivalent
- Hy-Vee food safety training
- Over one year of related work experience preferred
- Must be physically able to exert up to 100 pounds of force (energy exerted) occasionally
- Must be physically able to exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently
- Must be physically able to exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly
- Vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction
- Depth perception
- Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors)
- Field of vision
