Job Summary
Meat Cutter responsible for meat department operations, including department readiness, staffing and supervision, price maintenance, inventory preparation, and adherence to policies. Manages replenishment, invoicing, and back-stock processes; supports merchandising standards, proper stocking, displays, sampling, and overall department procedures. Ensures food production/processing follows safety guidelines, proper packaging, labeling, and regulatory requirements. Emphasizes equipment safety and maintenance, problem solving, and a customer-focused service approach. Also describes responsibilities as a Market Cutter and emphasizes aligning with Harps’ mission, professional conduct, and teamwork. Requires the ability to lift up to 100 pounds, flexibility to work evenings/weekends/holidays, and ability to adapt to changing priorities. May be exposed to weather and cleaning solvents and chemicals; background screening and pre-employment checks may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- Three years previous experience in meat market or retail grocery store preferred
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
- Ability to interpret, understand and follow instructions
- Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner
- Moves, lifts, carries and places merchandise weighing up to 100 pounds without assistance
- Stands and/or walks continuously during shift
