Job Summary
Meat & Seafood Clerk responsible for keeping meat cases stocked and clean, assisting customers with purchases, and ensuring accurate pricing and inventory. Duties include stocking and presenting products in accordance with department schematics, maintaining proper temperatures, inspecting shipments, handling packaging and wrapping, labeling, and dating, and following safety practices with knife use and equipment. Requires attention to sanitation, rotation of products (COOL compliance), and strong customer service while working in a fast-paced grocery environment. Ideal candidate demonstrates flexibility with varied hours, basic math/weights and measures knowledge, and a proactive, team-oriented mindset. Knowledge of health department guidelines, knives and meat machinery, and cross-selling opportunities is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency
- Preferred 1-2 years grocery retail experience in Meat department processes and procedures
