MDS Coordinator

Job Summary

Coordinate the entire Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of MDS, CAAs, and Interdisciplinary Care Plans. Assure compliance with Federal, State, and Certification guidelines by initiating RAI tracking, interviewing staff, and facilitating accurate determination of Assessment Reference Dates. Monitor discharge and reentry, obtain required signatures, and assist the Director of Nursing with identifying significant changes and physician orders. Correct documentation errors, submit resident assessment data to State and Federal agencies, and assign or instruct staff on the RAI Process, PPS, and clinical computer systems. Participate in daily stand-up meetings to communicate PPS timeline changes and deficiencies, and act as a resource for MDS-related computer issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently licensed as an LPN or RN in this state
  • CPR certified
  • At least 1 year of experience in MDS
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility
  • Excellent knowledge of the Federal Medicare PPS process, and Medicaid reimbursement
  • Knowledge of the OBRA regulations and Minimum Data Set
  • Knowledge of the care planning process
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and public relations skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with an acute attention to detail
  • Computer literate
  • Florida AHCA Clearinghouse background screening
